Luxury Shopping in Paris: Where to Go and How to Plan Your Day

Couture houses, fine jewelers, grand department stores and a designer outlet village: Paris is made for luxury shopping. Here are the must-visit addresses and how to plan a hassle-free day.

Avenue Montaigne and Faubourg Saint-Honoré: the heart of fashion

In the 8th arrondissement, Avenue Montaigne is lined with the flagships of the great couture houses, between the Champs-Élysées and the Seine. The atmosphere is hushed, the boutiques are spacious, and many houses offer personalized service by appointment. It’s often where a fashion-focused day begins. It’s a natural place to start, before moving on to the streets nearby.

Nearby, Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré brings together heritage houses, designers and leather goods makers, continuing on from Rue Saint-Honoré. The two streets are close, but walking between them with several shopping bags quickly gets tiresome. That’s where having a car waiting nearby really makes sense. Your bags stay on board while you keep shopping.

Place Vendôme: fine jewelry

In the 1st arrondissement, Place Vendôme is the historic home of fine jewelry and prestige watchmaking. Around its central column, the great houses occupy 18th-century mansions, and visitors come as much to admire the architecture as to discover exceptional pieces. The Ritz Paris also faces the square, which makes it a natural spot for a break.

For a major purchase, make an appointment with the house you’re interested in, and you’ll be welcomed in a quiet private salon. Plan your ride back carefully, too. Leaving in a chauffeured car, picked up right outside the boutique, is still the most discreet way to get back to your hotel.

Department stores and an outlet village

Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, under its famous glass dome, and Le Bon Marché, on the Left Bank, gather a huge selection of luxury, beauty and lifestyle brands under one roof. Their size invites you to take your time, and some services, like tax refunds for visitors from outside the European Union, are handled on site: ask at the welcome desk.

Farther out, east of Paris, La Vallée Village offers designer boutiques at reduced prices in an open-air village setting near Disneyland Paris. Combining a morning in the city with an afternoon at La Vallée Village is entirely doable in a single day, as long as the rides between them are well organized.

A chauffeur at your disposal and a personal shopper on request

With Groupe Metalsa Transports, you get a private chauffeur at your disposal for your whole shopping day, from €80 per hour in a Mercedes Business-class car. Your driver drops you outside each boutique, keeps your purchases safe in the vehicle and waits nearby. For extra comfort, First class is available, and our Van class seats up to 8 passengers.

On request, a personal shopper can come along: they know the houses, help you plan your route and make appointments easier. Tell us what you’re looking for, which addresses you have in mind and how long you need, then request a quote through our form, by phone or on WhatsApp, and we’ll get back to you with a firm price.

Planning your shopping day

Start by listing your addresses and grouping them by neighborhood: the Right Bank around Montaigne, Saint-Honoré and Vendôme, then the department stores, and the Left Bank around Le Bon Marché. Boutiques usually open mid-morning, and lunch at a nearby restaurant gives you a chance to recharge. Hold on to your receipts if you plan to claim a tax refund.
